What is Local Relief? Local Relief is a woman-founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a social media + resource app designed to help communities before, during, and after disasters.

It’s a lifeline that connects locals to trusted recovery resources, nonprofit aid, community responders, and—most importantly—each other.

When disaster strikes, chaos takes over: people don’t know where to turn, resources are scattered, and misinformation spreads. Local Relief fixes this by consolidating vetted resources and local updates into one simple platform while empowering neighbors to share information directly with their community.

This isn’t just an app—it’s a movement to restore resilient, connected communities.. And this isn’t just a nonprofit.

Local Relief was born out of sheer frustration—and heartbreak.

After Hurricane Irma hit my community in Florida, I saw firsthand how chaotic and lonely recovery really is. The storm passed, but the disaster was far from over. People were confused. They didn’t know where to find help, what resources were available, or even where to start. Some spent their life savings on services they could have gotten for free—if only they had known where to look.

It broke me to see neighbors desperate for answers, while organizations with solutions couldn’t reach the people who needed them most.

And I kept thinking: How is this still the system? Why isn’t there one place where people can connect to each other and to trusted help?

That’s where Local Relief came from.

This is a mission, not a luxury. Disasters don’t discriminate—whether it’s a massive hurricane or the so-called “100-year flood” that seems to happen every few years now. Anyone can find themselves standing in the wreckage, unsure of where to turn.

Local Relief is here for those moments.
It’s here to connect the dots between:

  • People desperate for help,
  • Neighbors willing to step up,
  • Nonprofits and organizations offering resources, and
  • Authorities trying to get information out fast.

We’re not just fixing a broken system—we’re building a lifeline for people to prepare, survive, and rebuild faster.

The truth is, this app isn’t a “nice to have.” It’s a need—for every family in a disaster-prone area, every single mom trying to rebuild, and every community that doesn’t want to be left in the dark ever again.

This is about saving lives, restoring dignity, and helping neighbors help neighbors.

Welcome to the mission.
Welcome to the heart and soul of Local Relief.

Together, let’s make sure no one feels alone in their time of greatest need.
